
Bay Area-based Director & Cinematographer Ashley James has credits on over 100 documentary films, including the 2012 Oscar-nominated film, “The Barber of Birmingham.” He is co-founder (with Kathryn Golden) of Searchlight Films, a Berkeley-based production company. His awards include the Prix Bartok Award at the Bilan du Film Ethnographique (France); the “Izzy” Award for special achievement in dance film; the AFI Independent Filmmaker award; three CINE Golden Eagles; two Telly statues and three Pegasus awards for excellence in television programming. James is a former governor at the No. California Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences
