Description

CLOSING NIGHT: On the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Grand Canyon National Park, DocLands' Closing Night celebrates with a screening of the inspirational film The Weight of Water, with director Michael Brown and renowned blind climber and kayaker, Erik Weihenmayer, in attendance for a Q&A. The Weight of Water is the story of a blind adventurer taking on an absurdly improbable challenge: kayaking the Grand Canyon. He desires the elusive state of being that so many of us seek, to be engaged in the present moment. Brown's exquisite cinematography holds us awestruck by the beauty and massive hazards deep within the Grand Canyon. Weihenmayer is a sought-after motivational speaker, the first blind person to reach the summit of Everest, and the only blind person to climb the highest peak on each of the seven continents. For this feat on Mount Everest, he was honored with a TIME Magazine cover story.
