Crash! Boom! Pow! It’s no punches pulled in local director Kristy Guevara-Flanagan’s exhilarating documentary featuring interviews with Gloria Steinem, ‘70s TV star Lynda Carter and a slew of real-life wonder women. Sure, Wonder Woman is an Amazon princess with superhuman strength, but in many ways hers is the tale of the 20th-century American woman: valued for her strength during World War II, shackled by patriarchy in the ‘50s, reborn through the Feminist movement and an inspiration to generations of women to follow. Ultimately, she paved the way for Charlie’s Angels, Buffy and many more. As Spider-man and Batman dominate the box office, Guevara-Flanagan reminds viewers that the legacy of Wonder Woman and her sisters is as relevant now as ever.
