
Luis Ortega was born in Buenos Aires in 1980. At 19, he directed his award-winning first feature
Caja negra (1999), which launched him as one of Argentina’s most promising and innovative filmmakers. Since then, he’s developed a filmography with a strong signature, becoming one of the most daring and attractive voices in the independent Latin American scene. His films include
Monobloc (2005),
Dromómanos (2012), and
Lulú (2014). In 2015, he wrote and directed
Historia de un clan, a widely popular and critically acclaimed 11-episode series. In 2016, he also directed the first two episodes of the successful series
El marginal.
