Bobby Roth has directed more than 80 episodes of television (Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Revenge), 25 television movies and 13 feature films, and he has been teaching film seminars around the world for the last ten years. His master class demystifies the craft of directing, handing over all the tools aspiring filmmakers need to feel comfortable walking onto a set and calling “Action!”

Bobby Roth and Nick Roth will screen the world premiere of their 10-episode documentary series; A Director Prepares, featuring over 50 interviews with established filmmakers and actors with whom Bobby has collaborated over the last 35 years, including Clark Gregg, Rosanna Arquette, Peter Weller, Peter Coyote, Madeleine Stowe, Henry Winkler, Anthony LaPaglia, Edward James Olmos, and Rob Nilsson, as well as the showrunners from Lost, Prison Break, and Revenge. After each episode, Bobby will lecture and answer questions.

Bobby Roth was born and raised in Los Angeles and studied philosophy and creative writing at UC Berkeley before graduating with a BA in Cinema from USC in 1972. He went on to film school at UCLA, where he received his MFA in Motion Picture Production in 1975. He was a founding member of the Independent Feature Project and the first co-chairman of the DGA’s Independent Feature Committee. His films have won numerous awards and have been exhibited in over 100 international film festivals. He also teaches film seminars throughout the world. He still resides in Los Angeles, actively working in the entertainment industry. Please see ( for more information.
