Presumed lost for decades, this iconic short film from Star Wars Art Director Roger Christian influenced some of the 1980s' biggest fantasy films including John Boorman's Excalibur and Ridley Scott's Legend. Not seen in any venue for 33 years, the Mill Valley Film Festival is proud to present Black Angel digitally restored and remastered from the original interpositive. Black Angel was commissioned by Lucas and 20th Century Fox to be shown with Empire Strikes Back all over the world as a program. Christian has a long history with Lucas and Star Wars, garnering an Oscar for set decorating A New Hope and directing 2nd unit on Return of the Jedi and Phantom Menace.
